Specifications : Diameter Tolerance = +- 0.1 mm. Density = .403-1.430 g/cm. Glass Transition Temperature = 55C
Printing Advice: Advised 3D printing temperature = 195-260C. Advised 3d print speed = 40 - 100 mm/s. Advised Heated bed = 50-60C colorFabb Light Weight PLA is a high quality expanding PLA 3D printing filament that is based on colorFabb's unique easy to print PLA/PHA blend. The first filament of its kind using an active foaming technology to achieve light weight, low density PLA parts. At around 230C this material will start foaming, increasing its volume by nearly three times (3X). Users can decrease material flow by 65% to achieve light weight parts, or use the expanding properties to effectively reduce print time by using big layer heights or single extra thick perimeters. colorFabb Light Weight PLA uses an active foaming technology which is triggered by temperature when printing. At it's peak, colorFabb Light Weight PLA will expand during extrusion to nearly three times (3X) its filament volume. This means that users can decrease flow by up to 65% to obtain light weight parts (or use the expanding properties to speed up print time by using big layer heights or single extra thick perimeters. The most common approach is to work with a fixed nozzle size and layer height and then vary the temperature, speed and flow rate to obtain the desired expansion rate and consequent weight reduction. Typical settings for printing the lightest weight parts are: Temperature = 245-260C, Flow Rate down to a minimum of 35% (no lower to avoid clogging) and print speeds up to 40mm/s. colorFabb Light Weight PLA is available in multiple colors. The foaming expansion of the extruded filament results in printed parts that have a rough matte-like finish which looks good and paints very well!
