Please note that we endeavour to keep shipping costs to a minimum and an estimate of shipping cost is provided when you order On-Line. Our balsa shipping cost estimator is VERY VERY conservative. In general our balsa shipping cost estimator quotes high and we will reduce what you pay for shipping to actual costs once we pack and weigh your balsa shipment.
If you want to get a rough idea of how our On-Line system estimates balsa shipping costs (handy for phone and mail order estimating)... you will be safe (i.e. high in your estimate) if you plan on the following...
3" x 36" sheets... $7.50 for up to 4" in total thickness plus $1.12/inch above 4" in thickness.
For example... a 10" high stack of assorted bundles of 3" x 36" sheets would generally cost less than $14.22 for shipping... i.e. $7.50 plus (10-4)*1.12 = $14.22
4" x 36" sheets... $7.50 for up to 3" in total thickness plus $1.49/inch above 3" in thickness
For example... a 10" high stack of assorted bundles of 4 x 36" sheets would generally cost less than $17.93 for shipping... i.e. $7.50 plus (10-3)*1.49 = $17.93
4" x 48" sheets... $7.50 for up to 3" in total thickness plus $1.99/inch above 3" in thickness
For example... a 10" high stack of assorted bundles of 4" wide sheets would generally cost less than $21.43 for shipping... i.e. $7.50 plus (10-3)*1.99 = $21.43
These are very conservative estimates and in general will be higher than what you will be charged. Bigger orders will be considerably lower than these estimates.
As we have noted, your actual shipping cost will generally be lower than the estimates, particularly for large orders or for orders of Balsa that are in combination with ARF's or other items. For remote locations and for locations outside of North America shipping costs can be higher than estimated. In any event, regardless of destination, if the actual shipping cost overruns the On-Line store estimate by more than 25% we will get back to you with an exact cost for you to approve before we ship.
Some countries outside of North America do not handle packages with 48" balsa wood. We will get back to you if we are not able to ship 48" balsa wood to you.
