The dimensions of the Vertical Stabilizer include the Rudder unless otherwise noted. The Rudder Quantity is the number of rudder segments. This is usually 1 and occasionally 2. i.e. 1 for 1 rudder, 2 for 2 rudders in the case of two vertical stabilizers on one model. The Rudder Length is expressed as the length per rudder segment. The Rudder area is expressed as the total of the area of all rudder segments.

The term "effective" is used to desribe the size of an object which is tapered or irregularly shaped. The term "chord" describes the linear distance from the leading edge to the trailing edge through a wing or control surface. The terms "saddle" and "saddle area" describe that portion of a flying surface such as the center section of a wing or horizontal stabilizer where it intersects the fuselage.
